“Rinker Finds Perfection”
Team AMSOIL Sweeps ChampBoat Series on Savannah River
Savannah,
Ga. ~ An historical season was set on Sunday on the Savannah River in
Savannah, Ga. by Team AMSOIL power boat racer Terry Rinker. The Tampa, Fla.
native set the world record for consecutive wins with seven after sweeping the
seven-race ChampBoat series in convincing fashion on November 5.
Rinker, who
was the 2003 and 2005 series champion, started his weekend by setting the
fastest qualifying time of 32.46 seconds on the mile and a quarter track.
Despite large swells that delayed the racing, Rinker was able to win his heat
race and started on the pole for Sunday’s finale. Despite four restarts, Rinker
never relinquished the lead position during the 50-lap final, winning his
seventh race in 2006 and eclipsing the decade old record.
“It is a
dream come true,” said Rinker. “I couldn’t have done this without my fine crew
who prepared a perfect AMSOIL/Rinker boat. All I had to do was get it to the
finish. We look forward to keeping the streak alive in ’07. We aren’t going to
lie down now that we have the record, and we want to extend it in the worst
way.”
The season
ends with Rinker wrapping up his third championship in the past four years.
Since the start of 2005, Rinker has won 11 ChampBoat Series races. The
ChampBoat Series will air on SPEED Channel beginning this winter. The first
episode is scheduled to air on Saturday, December 23 at noon EST.

“Arenacross Season Gets Underway With AMSOIL”
Des
Moines, Iowa ~ AMSOIL has extended its sponsorship reach into the two
biggest arenacross series in North America this year -- the Toyota AMA
Arenacross Series and the BooKoo Arenacross Series. In the Toyota Series, AMSOIL
signed the defending champion, Chad Johnson, to a one-year deal. Johnson races
as part of the Junior Jackson Racing Team. Johnson is joined by former AMSOIL/Factory
Connection rider Greg Schnell and rookie Ryan Poulter.
Schnell,
the fifth ranked rider in the AX class after last season, led the Junior Jackson
charge last weekend in Des Moines, Iowa. Schnell finished on the podium on
Friday night with a third and followed that ride with a second on Saturday.
Despite early crashes on both nights, Johnson was able to nab two top 10
finishes, a sixth on Friday and a seventh on Saturday, for seventh overall.
Schnell finished the weekend second overall. Poulter, meanwhile, had trouble
during qualifying and was unable to compete in the main event.
The Junior
Jackson Racing Team will be traveling with the Toyota Arenacross Series this
weekend as the circuit heads east to Albany, N.Y. All events will air this
winter on SPEED Channel.
Fresno,
Calif. ~ Competing for Team AMSOIL in the BooKoo Arenacross Series this
season will be Babbitt Racing out of Michigan. Babbitt Racing is led by well
known Canadian rider Darcy Lange and Jeff Northrup.
Lange was
looking to steal the season opener in Fresno, Calif. last weekend. On Friday
night, he made strong moves to push his Kawasaki into the lead in the 250
class. He was able to pick up the first win of the season for the AMSOIL
sponsored Babbitt Racing. Lange then powered his 450 class bike to a win later
that night.
On Saturday,
Lange just missed his third straight win, finishing second in the 250 class. He
would get back on the top podium spot in the 450 race, winning the final.
Northrup finished fourth in the race.
Babbitt
Racing will be following the BooKoo Series this weekend in Salem, Oregon.

Chris
Shelton of Shelton Racing out of Paducah, Ky. made a strong showing in
late October in the team’s first attempt at making the Common Wealth
Cup. Shelton qualified eighth in a field of 78 dirt late models. The
team advanced one spot and finished in seventh place. Dealer Jerry

Myron
Piatek, a drag race driver for Locomotion Racing out of Holly Hill, Fla.
won the 2006 IHRA Stock World Championship at the IHRA UTIWorld Finals
at Rockingham Dragway, Oct. 19-23. While leading or being near the top
of the points standings through most of the season, the final event
required a first round win to clinch the title. Piatek won the
championship by remaining in competition through the third round,
falling to the eventual runner-up of the event. "It was a life-long
dream-come-true and a great relief after many top-10 finishes since
entering the class in 1999, including three third places," Piatek said.
Dealer Dan Watson of Oviedo, Fla. sponsors Locomotion Racing.
