French Connection
Paris,
France ~ AMSOIL was looking
for a solid weekend of racing
and representation at the
infamous Bercy Supercross in
Paris, France. While the
headlines were reading with the
names of other riders, the
AMSOIL/Factory Connection team
had a good run on the world
stage.
Billy Laninovich, who has
gained recognition as a great
indoor rider, was looking for a
strong ride to help jumpstart
the upcoming AMA Supercross
Series. Laninovich showed
improvement all weekend long.
On Friday, he finished sixth in
the main and followed that with
an 8th on Saturday night after
taking a second in his heat
race. Everything came together
on Sunday, when the Californian
won his heat race and finished
fourth in the main. For the
weekend, he finished fifth
overall and helped the United
States win the event.
Laninovich was joined by
fellow Team AMSOIL rider Marco
Dubé in Bercy. Dubé had a goal
to be in the top five against
some of the world’s best 125
riders. After he pulled a
muscle in practice, Dubé
struggled to find his grove all
weekend long.
Dubé missed both finals on
Friday and Saturday by one
spot. He redeemed himself on
Sunday, making it into the
main. The troubles continued at
the start, where he got stuck in
the gate. He was able to work
his way up to 12th by the time
the checkered flag dropped.
Dubé’s next race will be in
Belfast, Ireland before he heads
back to Canada for the Toronto
Supercross.
Changing Seasons
The race seasons are slowly
changing from summer and
motocross, etc., to winter and
snocross. That means most of the
corporately sponsored teams are
on standby for a few weeks. If
you are an AMSOIL Dealer and are
looking to sponsor a local racer
through the AMSOIL Co-op Race
Program, please fill out the
G-2074 and send it to me. Teams
who were sponsored last year
will need to fill out the form
once again. Thank you all and
good luck.
