Testing and Tea

Sheffield, England ~ The Canadian Arenacross Series is on standby for a couple of weeks, and with the need to get in more laps, Marco Dubé did a little pond jumping last weekend, taking his show to a Supercross race in Sheffield, England.

Along with the practice race, Dubé was also checking out a new engine configuration on his KTM.   He replaced his current motor with an enduro model, making his bike a little less stock, and a little faster.

It seemed to work out for the veteran rider.  In the 125cc class he took home a fourth place finish.  He followed that up with a podium finish (3rd) in the 250cc class.

Dubé will continue his “World Tour” with 10 days of testing in California before his next race, which is the third round of the Canadian Arenacross Series in Calgary on November 4-5.

More Team AMSOIL News

  • 42-year-old Luke Hoffner of Turboville, Penn. reached a major career milestone last weekend.  Hoffner, who has been racing Late Models for 25 years, picked up his 100th career feature win at the Selinsgrove Speedway.

“It was a big relief because I won last year in the first race of the season and then had a dry spell until now,” said Hoffner. “We were stuck on 99 (wins) for just about a year.  We were worried about it all year long.”

  • The final round of the Southeastern Mini Road Racing Association in Elgin, S.C. brought out more than 45 riders last weekend.  AMSOIL sponsored rider Jason Baldwin started fast and didn’t look back.  In heat one of the Thumper 150 class, Baldwin pulled the holeshot and battled for the lead the entire race, eventually taking second.  The strong qualifier put him in the front row for the main event.  He once again pulled the holeshot and went wire-to-wire for the win.  Baldwin is sponsored by AMSOIL Dealer John Coffey.
  • Team T Racing began its winter racing season last weekend at the Woodland MX Park in Woodland, Wash.  Eleven-year-old Josiah Tognazzini rode his YZ-80 in the 80 Beginner class.  Tognazzini took fifth place in the first moto and a seventh in the second for sixth overall.
  • Mitchell Harrison finished third in the 50cc (4-6) class at the 2005 World Amateur Arenacross finals in Las Vegas.  Harrison, age seven, was one of 18 riders to qualify from six regions throughout the United States.
He is sponsored by AMSOIL Dealer Jason Keranen.
