“Another Podium Finish for AWR”
Dedick opens 4-Wheel Jamboree as runner-up

Fredericksburg, Texas ~ Autumn Woods Racing took part in the first round of racing for the 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals last weekend. Top driver and past champion Jeff Dedick joined up with AMSOIL teammate Ricky Brantley for a pair of top five finishes at the Fredericksburg, Texas event.

Dedick showed why he is a past champion by making it into the final of the 2-truck, Chicago style racing. More than 25,000 people watched Dedick roll his truck across the finish line for a second place finish. Brantley just missed the final pairing and ended up finishing fourth.

The Autumn Woods Racing duo will be back in action on May 5-6 as the Jamboree heads to Springfield, Mo.

“Supercross Team Finds Bumpy Ride”
Team AMSOIL riders have trouble during east coast swing

Indianapolis, Ind. ~ The AMA Supercross Series made its annual stop in Indianapolis two weeks ago and the AMSOIL sponsored riders were hoping for a turnaround to their turbulent season. For top pros like Kevin Windham and Billy Laninovich, that meant a return to the podiums. Unfortunately, hard luck followed the riders into Indy.

In the Lites class, Laninovich was riding alone after teammate Ryan Sipes had crashed hard in a previous round and broken his leg. The break means Sipes will be out for the rest of the Supercross season, but is expected to return for the AMA Outdoor Nationals starting in May. Laninovich found his own trouble during his heat race and had to qualify for the main through the LCQ, where he finished second and into the final. In the main, Lano battled in the middle of the 22 rider field and finished in 12th.

In the Supercross event, Windham was looking for his second podium finish of the year. KDub shrugged off a slow start in his heat race and moved through the pack into fifth, advancing him directly into the final. In the main, Windham had trouble early on, eventually crashing out in 21st place.

Last weekend brought the team and a series of powerful storms to Dallas for the sixth round of the East Coast Lites Series. That made the Texas track muddy and dangerously slippery for the riders. Laninovich struggled during his heat race and once again had to qualify for the main by running in the top four in the LCQ. Lano finished second in the qualifier and moved into the final. Once there, Laninovich finished 13th. For the season, Lano sits in ninth overall in the East Coast Lites class with just one round left.

In the Supercross class, Windham was holding onto second in his heat race but a bad crash on the second lap caused the Mississippi-native to drop out of the race. He would have to finish in the top two of the LCQ. Unfortunately for Windham a bad start didn’t allow him to finish in a qualifying position, as he finished fourth. For the season, KDub is fourth overall after 13 rounds of the 16 round season. The team will be off for two weeks before heading north to Detroit, Mich.

“Smith Stirring Up Spring Dirt”
Team AMSOIL late model driver preparing for busy summer schedule

Cleveland, Tenn. ~ Brady Smith and his late model dirt track racing team invaded the Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, Tenn. on March 17 for the annual 'Shamrock 60.' The team unveiled a new Scott Bloomquist-built racecar for the Southern All-Stars Series (OSAS) show at the Tennessee oval. However, ultra-rough track conditions not only made things treacherous for Smith, but also for all of the other 49 entrants.

The Solon Springs, Wis.-native was making his first trip to the historic Cleveland facility. His car suffered fuel pressure problems during qualifying, which severely hampered his time trial run. After starting at the tail of one of the heat races, Smith made a late charge towards the front of the field to grab the third spot and a coveted transfer position into the 60-lap A-Main. In the feature, Smith started near the back, but immediately pointed his new AMSOIL/Bloomquist / Pro Power machine towards the front. He was up to third before breaking a brake caliper bracket near the end of the race. Due to the mechanical issue, Smith was relegated to an eleventh place finish in the final rundown.

"I was pretty impressed with the new Bloomquist car, even though we suffered through a myriad of different problems throughout the night," said Smith. "We were fighting fuel pressure problems throughout hot laps and qualifying, so I just went out in the heat race trying to see if we had worked the bugs out. I was riding around out there in about sixth and then a caution came out with only four laps left. So, I got up on the wheel and decided to really turn up the wick to see if I could get into the feature. It turned out that I was able to grab a transfer spot on the last lap to get into the A-Main. Then in the feature, the car felt really good, even though the track surface was very rough. I got up into third and had my sights set on the leaders and then we lost brakes due to the brake caliper bracket breaking. It was unfortunate because I think we had a shot at second definitely and may have had a shot at the win."

On March 30, Smith traveled to the Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Ind. for the tenth annual 'Indiana Icebreaker.' After an eighth place finish in his heat race and a sixth place effort in the B-Main, Smith was unable to transfer to the feature. The NARA Late Model Dirt Series show drew 72 of the best Dirt Late Model drivers to the south-central Indiana oval and only 25 cars made the starting field for the 75-lap A-Main.

Smith was scheduled to race a pair of races in the Midwest this weekend. Unusually cold weather cancelled those events, meaning Smith will be back on the race track Saturday, April 14 at the Tazewell Speedway in Tennessee.

“AMSOIL Anglers Looking For Spring Success”
Bass anglers showing good catches early on

The past month has been busy for AMSOIL Bass anglers Darrin Schwenkbeck and Glenn DeLong. The pair has been fishing in the first few rounds of the ESPN Bassmasters Elite Series.

Two weeks ago, Schwenkbeck and DeLong headed for the second round of the Elite Series in Stockton, Calif. The pair faced off against more than 100 of the top Bass anglers in the world. DeLong fished well at the Dual in the Delta, finished 38th overall and making the Saturday cut with a combined weight of 40.12 pounds.

"I lost an (8-pounder) and a 9 late in the day," he said. "I broke one off in a bush and the other one just came unbuttoned.”

Schwenkbeck missed the cut and finished 63rd with 24.14 pounds.

Last weekend the pair had to battle a record setting weekend by their fellow competitors. Schwenkbeck had two solid days of fishing, finishing with 18.13 and 19.3 pounds respectively at the Golden State Shootout in Lakeport, Calif. Delong, on the other hand, had a career weekend, making the final cut to fish on Sunday. Delong finished the four days of fishing with a combined weight of more than 80 pounds and finished 12th overall.

The event was aired on ESPN. Both anglers will be heading to the Southern Swing in two weeks as the series heads to Evans, Ga.
